NAIDOC Week 50 Years Deadly

6 July 2026

East Arnhem Regional Council proudly celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

"NAIDOC Week celebrates the survival of our people, culture, stories and languages. It's a time to be proud, to share our stories and our love with other nations from different walks of life. Together, we can make a difference by celebrating Yolŋu culture and walking together with pride and dignity."

- President Lapulung Dhamarrandji

The NAIDOC theme for 2026, 'Fifty Years of Deadly' marks a significant milestone, celebrating the voices and stories of those who have helped shape the movement. It reflects the achievements of the past while looking ahead to the next generation of leaders who will continue the journey.

This week, we hope you can make it to a NAIDOC event in East Arnhem.

The East Arnhem Regional Council - Active Communities & Youth Services team will be running programs throughout the week. For more information, visit our Active Communities & Youth Services page here.

“Moving forward together, we celebrate the spirit of NAIDOC Week. Healthy People. Strong Culture. Active Lifestyle.”

- President Lapulung Dhamarrandji
