East Arnhem Regional Council provides seven communities with Age Care and Disability services (Angurugu, Galiwin'ku, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, Yirrkala, Umbakumba, and Ramingining). Eligibility for aged care services is for Indigenous people over 50, non-Indigenous people over 65 and NDIS for people up to the age of 65 who have a profound disability.
The Age Care and Disability Services team is dedicated to providing culturally safe, high-quality support. They work closely with individuals, caregivers, family members and stakeholders to ensure all clients/participants receive the best possible care.
What makes us special?
We take pride in being at the forefront of Age Care & Disability Services in East Arnhemland. Our focus is to provide:
- Skill development - Our life skills support service promotes independence and empowers participants to make choices in their daily lives. We are proud to offer customised programs and tailored support that align with the unique needs, preferences, and goals of each individual.
- In-home care and support - Our goal is to help our participants maintain their independence by offering care and support services in the comfort of their own homes and within the community.
- Community Inclusion - To enhance the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities, we organise regular bush trips and excursions, allowing our clients/participants to connect with and enjoy their strong connection to the country.
- Community engagement - We strongly believe in and actively promote community engagement by involving the local Yolngu population. We warmly welcome and encourage Indigenous volunteers from the community, creating numerous employment opportunities. Through effective collaboration with stakeholders in the Community Development Program (CDP), we actively contribute to local employment. As pioneers in this effort, we proudly employ over 50 Yolngu staff members who deliver exceptional person-centred care tailored to cultural and spiritual needs across the region.
- Best practice framework - Our support and care services are designed based on the Age Care Quality Standards and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguarding framework. Our dedicated support professionals undergo regular training and professional development to ensure that they are up to date with the best practices and standards in the industry.
- Case Management & Care Coordination Services - At EARC, we offer case management and coordination services to help clients/participants navigate and access the most suitable services according to their needs and preferences. Our goal is to provide comprehensive care and support to our community members, from the initial stages to the final stages of their journey. We are committed to being there for them every step of the way.
