Citizenship Ceremonies

From resident to citizen: East Arnhem Regional Council's citizenship recognition

The East Arnhem Regional Council organises Citizenship Ceremonies in our nine local communities for those who have been granted Citizenship. Participating in a Citizenship Ceremony and taking the Pledge of Commitment is the final step to officially becoming an Australian Citizen.

Becoming an Australian citizen in East Arnhem is an important and exciting event. These ceremonies meet the legal requirements set by the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2016. They are organised by the Australian Government minister in charge of Citizenship matters.

The Council's main responsibility is to conduct these Citizenship Ceremonies. However, it's important to note that they are not the right point of contact for individuals seeking to apply for Australian Citizenship.

To become and Australian Citizen you will need to contact the Department of Immigration & Citizenship on Information Line
