Deepest Condolences
On behalf of East Arnhem Regional Council, we extend our deepest condolences to the family members, friends and community members of the late Evelyn D Bukulatjpi.
Evelyn D Bukulatjpi was dedicated to her community having served for almost eight years with East Arnhem Regional Council among various other positions including Chairwoman of Yalu Aboriginal Corporation.
Former East Arnhem Regional Council President, Kaye Thurlow (AM), has the following to share:
“Evelyn had worked at East Arnhem Regional Council as a Customer Service Officer and then as a Community Housing Officer in Galiwin'ku.”
“Her management of the mail was exceptional, she had a wealth of knowledge and sharp memory surrounding who lived in what house. If anyone was trying to collect mail from a house that wasn't theirs, then she was across this and would educate them as to why she couldn't give them mail that wasn't theirs. Evelyn helped establish processes in the post office that remain in place today. It was this knowledge that had also led her to become successful in her role as a Community Housing Officer in Galiwin'ku, then assisting with the 2016 Census in Galiwin'ku.”
We are deeply grateful for Evelyn D Bukulatjpi’s generosity, fairness and commitment to her community. Today East Arnhem Regional Council remembers Evelyn D Bukulatjpi and the positive impact she had on her community. Her contributions continue to inspire us.
