Regional Wellbeing Camp Recap
4 July 2024
Over four exciting days the Youth Sport and Recreation team at East Arnhem Regional Council delivered the Regional Wellbeing Camp held at the Garma site, Gulkula.
There was a total of 24 participants from five Communities who came together to attend the four-day camp full of activities including:
- Health workshops with Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation and Top End Health Services
- Creative art workshops with The Bait Fridge
- Team building games
- Capture the Flag
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Volleyball
- Movie Nights
- Fishing at Dhaliwuy Bay
- And lots more!
We were well supported and extend a huge thank you to the following organisations and their staff who assisted in making this such a success:
- Thanks to Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation for delivery of health workshops by Raypirri Rom, Public Health and Women’s Health teams.
- Thanks to Shane Flanagan from Top End Health Services for delivery of VSU education workshop.

- Thanks to Gumatj Aboriginal Corporation for the use of their amazing venue for our camp.

Regional Wellbeing Camp, 25-28 June 2024
The East Arnhem Regional Council Local Authorities for Milingimbi and Ramingining met formally this week. Local Authority Members considered and discussed the major issue of domestic violence.

Lia Finocchiaro MLA , Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, and Oly Carlson MLA, Assistant Minister for Nhulunbuy Transition, for meeting with East Arnhem Regional Council 's President Lapulung Dhamarrandji, Deputy President Stephen Dhamarrandji, Councillor Marrpalawuy Marika, Councillor Lirrpiya Mununggurr and CEO Dale Keehne to discuss a range of important issues impacting East Arnhem Land.
East Arnhem Regional Council adopted the Budget for the 2026-2027 financial year and the Regional Plan for 2026-2027 at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on Thursday, 25 June 2026.
A By-election is being held to fill a casual vacancy in the East Arnhem Regional Council Gumurr Miwatj Ward (1 vacancy).
