Galiwin'ku team update

East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC) provides multiple services to Galiwin’ku including Accommodation, Aged Care & Disability Services, Animal Management Program, Cemetery Management, Child Care Services, Community Night Patrol, Waste & Environmental Services, Libraries, Active Communities & Youth Services, and Municipal Services.

President Lapulung Dhamarrandji and CEO Dale Keehne recently visited Galiwin’ku to catchup with the team. Here are some highlights from their visit and some recent updates from the team.

 

✅ The Council Services team have been running an awesome Post Office service and are looking forward to the upcoming visit from Australia Post to checkout their great work.

✅ Fire breaks have been maintained across key areas.

✅ Pothole patching works have been undertaken to improve the safety of road users.

✅ Yuttaphum (Senior Cleaner) has been working on improving the outdoor garden at the EARC Galiwin’ku accommodation and ensuring all Council building are in great shape for the public.

✅ The Aged Care and Disability Services team have been working hard to continue their delivery of quality services for our clients.

✅ Community Night Patrol team provided assistance at the barbecue held during the recent Emma Donovan event.

In the best interest of the safety of our patrons, particularly our young members, we would like to remind the community that all children in the library must be supervised by an adult at all times. Children who enter the library without a supervising parent or guardian will be denied access.

East Arnhem Regional Council was honoured to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Nhulunbuy Cenotaph (Arafura Park), joining the community in solemn reflection to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of Australian veterans. We recognise the significant contributions of Yolŋu people who fought and supported the defence of Australia across East Arnhem Land during World War II.  Gumurr Miwatj Councillor Murphy Yunupingu laid a wreath on behalf of East Arnhem Regional Council paying tribute to all who have served. Lest we forget.
