East Arnhem Regional Council provides the nine communities with accessible services that cater to the needs of the communities while specifically supporting the overall wellbeing of families and children, including childcare and nutrition. 

Child Care Services

East Arnhem Regional Council operates four Childcare centres in the region equipped with programs that are designed to provide early education and care services according to the needs of the children, families and the local community. The Childcare centres support the growth and development of children through nutritious meals and snacks, various activities and programs. To ensure cultural strength, the centres employ local Indigenous educators, with an ongoing commitment towards mentoring and training opportunities for all staff. 

The Childcare centres offer various booking options, including permanent, part-time, and casual arrangements. When enrolling, families are required to apply for the Childcare Subsidy through the Department of Human Services; Childcare fees still apply, but are subsidised by the Department of Human Services based on the family's income and circumstances. 

The childcare services operate for 48 weeks per year, and are closed on Public Holidays. 

East Arnhem Regional Council’s Childcare centers are funded by the Commonwealth.

Nutrition & Well-being Programs

East Arnhem Regional Council in collaboration with Anglicare NT through the Communities for Children initiatives (C4C) delivers nutrition, well-being, and family support programs in various communities. 

The collaboration firmly advocates its goal to promote healthy eating habits and a culture of healthy food choices within families. Through engaging activities, parents are empowered to actively support their children's health and well-being while also gaining valuable connections to health services and other support.
